    Post: custody of a grandchild

    Posted by Kay on 12/14/08

Our twenty yr.old daughter wants to give us temporary
custody of her son. They live with her bio mother and she
has been wanting to move out for a while but because she
has been in alittle trouble(has no drivers permit due to
unpayed speeding ticket)her mother threatens to call the
police everytime she says she going to live with him and
tells her she will not let her have her stuff or the
babies stuff. She also threatens to have anyone arrested
that comes on the property to pick her, the baby and their
stuff up. Is it possible for her mom to do this?

Second, we would like to know if we decide to take cusody.
Could we? The fathers name is on the birth certificate
although, there is a 50/50 chance he isnt the father. We
would never want to keep him out but he is a lineman for
the power company and isnt home most of the week, only on
weekends. He hasnt went before the court to legitimize the
baby so I dont know what legal standing we would even
    have.

I anyone could help explain what rights she has to the
first question the second maybe wont be an issue.
