Re: Father's Rights

I am a single father that lives in Michigan, MaComb County exactly. My ex never notified me when she had our son. I found out thru a mutual person. Anyway, I had to take her to court to establish paternity. Any yes there comes child support and visitation. Michigan is a mother state. Which means fathers have very little rights. It is almost impossible to get physical custody unless the mother is a proven drug addict or prostitute. Standard visitation consists of every other weekend, one evening a week (for only a few hours) and certain holidays (depends on the year). Now of course the parents can establish their own visitation schedule but both parties need to agree. Now, some judges do not allow the child to be removed from the state especially until the paternity case is over. I advice get a lawyer and a good one! It is going to be a long and expensive battle.
