Post: Dependent Visa Status maintenance

Hi,

I am on dependent greencard which is issued for two
years.But due to marital problems we are planning to get
seperated.Will this take away my greencard status
immediately ? As right now it is valid uptil 2010. And if
my status would be active can i apply independently to
extend my greencard status?
