Post: Japan Dual Citizen

Posted by Robert James on 3/26/08

I hold dual citizenship (Canadian and Japanese) I have used
only my Canadian one for a number of years (I am over 22)
during which time I have travelled to Japan as well as
    numerous other countries.

I now wish to renew my Japanese passport and live and work
    in Japan.

Because my Japanese passport has expired I will have to
enter Japan on my Canadian passport however as I begin to
live as a Japanese person my visa will expire on my
    Canadian passport.

If I renew my Japanese passport and leave the country on my
Canadian passport then when I re-enter on my Japanese
passport it will show me as having neither exited Japan not
the country from which I am returning.

Can I get some definitive informationon what to do? This is
especially relevant with the Biometric passports I think.

    Thanks so much,

    Robert
