Post: attorney responsibilities during green card application

Posted by Redline on 4/07/08
Wanted to get an idea of what an attorney is typically
responsible for during a green card process (i.e. starting
from labor certification and onward). I think when
everything is said and done, typical fees for such a
process will average around $15-20k give or take and the
whole process takes roughly 2 years on average.
Is it the attorney's responsibility or the client's
responsibility to gather letters of employment from the
client's previous employers? Who has the responsibility
of posting advertisements? etc. etc. I've heard of
everything from the client just signing a few papers and
the attorney doing the rest to the client paying the
attorney while the client does all the legwork.
Any comments? Thanks.
