Post: Stun Gun Vandalism In Comprehensive Auto Policies

Posted by Fried Wires on 6/07/08
I recently had some thugs use a "Stun Gun
with an excess of 500,000 Volts" fry my
new SUVs electrical system. It was done
by touching the stun gun to an exposed part
of the Chassis and discharging the stun gun
for at least 3 seconds.
When I took my SUV to the dealer, they showed that
"Stun Gun Vandalism" is not covered under Warranty
by any manufacturer just like Lightning damage is excluded
from all warranties.
I then went to my insurance company and then was
told that "Most Comprhensive Auto Policies" exclude
Lightning damage. And since Stun Gun Vandalism does
the exact same type and level of damage to a vehicle's
electrical system that a Lightning Strike does, they
would not cover the cost of replacing my SUVs electrical
systems.
As it turns out, the cost to replace my SUV's entire
electrical system costs more than a new SUV.
My Auto Insurance Company has refused to either pay
for repairs or declare my SUV Totalled based on the
Dealership and Electrical Specialty Shop estimates of
cost of repair.
Who Can I Sue?
