Post: Life Insurance question

Posted by Anna on 10/27/06

Need to know if this is fraud.....
Man and woman are married when he takes out a life
insurance policy on wife. wife has no problem with this.
    Then they are divorced.
He becomes teminally ill. He has a daughter from first
wife. He dies, but before he dies, he gives the daughter
the policy and signs it over to her. The ex wife now has
this ex step daughter who owns this policy and is paying
premiums on her father's ex wife.
the ex wife and the ex step daughter hate each other.
Can the ex stepdaugther legally own this policy without the
    ex wife's permission?
Ex wife is a resident in NJ. The ex step daughter is a
    resident in Virginia.
    Any help would be appreciated
