    Post: Masters OK for Biotech?

Posted by Tom, tcc3@duke.edu, on 2/02/02

Debating whether or not I should get a PhD in addition to my
current science background. Have a BA in
Chemistry/Pharmacology from Duke, and MS in Biotechnology
from Johns Hopkins. Hope to work at USPTO as patent
examiner for a couple years before heading to law school.
Will this amount of education be sufficient to get good job
offers/placement once I'm done with law school, or should I
consider getting a PhD first? How much worse/better off am
    I without/with a PhD? Is the starting salary for a JD/MS
the same as a JD/PhD? Basically was wondering how much of a
difference the PhD will make, and whether I can still do
well with only a masters. Any input anybody might have
    would be greatly appreciated.
    Tom
