Hi, I am working w/ a local group of women in Providence,
RI to organize an International Women's Day celebration
event. The whole day is designed as a benefit for a local
women's organization. No proceeds are gained except for
charity. As a part of the day's event, we are organizing a
very informal staged reading. The excerpts I would like to
use are from various sources, such as the internet, books,
anthologies, plays, etc. The materials will be read,
verbally outloud, but not reproduced. The title of the
piece from which the excerpt is taken, as well as the
author's name will also be acreditted verbally. Do I have
to go through a legal process of attaining the
    rights/permission for such a piece?

    Thanks for your time,
    Caroline
