Post: Mechanical Engineer's Prospects in IP Law

Posted by Ryan, ryanmahn@hotmail.com, on 6/23/02

I am a design engineer at large automotive company. I have
been considering attending a part-time JD program at
Capital University in order to become a patent lawyer.
Capital Law is accredited; however, not as notable as it's
neighbor Ohio State. I would like to get some feedback as
to how important your school of choice is? Would attending
a smaller school's program be a big hindrance to the post
    education job hunt?
Also, considering that I will spend in excess of $70K on my
education, what is a REALISTIC salary to expect upon
graduation (with a mechanical design background)? I have
heard anywhere from $60K to $140K.
