Education
College degree, paralegal certificate.
Requirements
5-7 years of Patent Paralegal experience. Knowledge of
Patent & Trademark procedures. Must know Patent
Prosecution. Must be able to compose responses.
Understanding of technology.
Responsibilities
Assisting patent attorneys in all areas, primarily domestic
and foreign patent prosecution, and including special
projects as assigned in the areas of
acquisitions/divestitures, agreement work, due diligence,
etc. Assist in patent prosecution by reviewing the patent
applications and papers prior to filing with the PTO Will
obtain inventor signatures on formal papers. Review Office
Actions and distribute copies to inventors; acting as
liaison between patent attorney and inventor. Prepare
disclosure statements; conduct docket review with the
patent attorneys; correct applications, file receipts and
other formal issues. Review application files throughout
the prosecution process and follow prosecution checklists.
Compose routine petitions and responses to the PTO for
patent attorney review; contact PTO to follow-up or solve
problems; check the PTO rules and procedures (MPEP, CFR);
review O.G. for rule changes and presenting pertinent
information to patent staff via meeting or seminar. Conduct
searches as outlined by patent attorneys. Will work with
in-house counsel, outside counsel, inventors and business
executives as required. The responsibilities listed here
