I have BSEE, MSEE, MBA, and JD. Patent law firms don't care about my MBA. They like the BSEE and MSEE. The big firms don't like the fact that I did not graduate in the top 10% of my class. Most firms want biomedical types with PhDs, but I think a PHd is a waste of time for engineers. Most firms like ex patent examiners. If you have alot of the pluses, you may not need to get a PhD. The real acid test is sending out your resume and see what kind of respone you get. You have nothing to lose!
