Did you happen to see the new posting for a position as a patent
attorney? They are "ideally" looking for someone with some
experience, but I'd go for it anyway. Gave the "heads up" to Jim
(I think) above as well. Sometimes the best way to find out what
something is like is to take the plunge!

In response to your earlier question about starting out as an
examiner, I would assume it would be similar to starting as a
legal assistant in another type of firm. It's a great way to get
your feet wet, a great way to network, but I would assume it's
like anything else...it's way easier to start higher on the
ladder then it is to pull your way up. However, I am certain you
want to hear from someone that's working IP law.

I am a new law school graduate. I passed the July bar exam and
will swear in on December 16th! Yeah! I have a neighbor who
works for a large firm who was inadvertently included on some
directory as a patent laywer. She is always encouraging me to
consider taking that route. I am starting out in general
practice for a very small firm and look forward to trying my
hand in many aspects of the law before taking a specific
    direction (if ever).

    Good luck! See below!
