Re: Advice Needed for future IP/law school applicant

It is easier to get a job in EE but the market is still saturated for experienced attorneys, and very saturated for entry level attorneys. However, compare this to general law where it is almost impossible to find meaningful work unless you are a Harvard 4.0. The best practical advice is to get some patent law experience while in school either by working as a patent agent part-time or during summers. This will set you apart from the multitude of new EE law graduates seeking entry level patent jobs. As you probably know by reading some recruiting ads, most firms want someone in the top 10% of their class from a top 10 law school. This may seem silly, but that is just the way it is. This does not mean that YOU will not get a good job, but remember that law is a very, very credential driven profession because the are too many lawyers fighting for a limited number of jobs.
