Re: Question about patent examiner jobs in DC

As a person that is working for the patent office, the pay is
actually very good. patent examiner are now one of the highest paid
govy employees. it used to be that examiner didnt get paid as much
as other people but that changed at the end of 2001. i personally
came aboard at that time. i have a couple of friends that working
at the PTO and then attend law school at nite. it's gets to be very
hard because at the PTO the job is production related. sometimes it
is hard to meet your "number" especially when going to school at
nite. i have a couple of friends that did it and some just quit the
PTO and went to school. My friend started working at the PTO the
same time i did and now is finishing up his second year of law. he
just recently accepted a job at a firm that paid him more plus
tuition. also, from what i hear, electrical engineers with PTO
experience and either going to law school or have graduated are the
most wanted people right now. with regards to the PTO, it is very
easy to get job here if you have a BSEE or higher. depending if
they are hiring or not i dont know, but i dont see a problem getting
a job here. good luck, hopefully this has helped you.
