You cannot copyright ideas. A copyright will not protect against someone writing a different story with the same basic idea as yours. You can copyright your script even if is only a draft, but you don't need to take any additional steps other than writing it on paper to copyright it. If you want, you can register your copyright with the copyright office at http://www.copyright.gov. Read the FAQ there. It will help you with your basic questions about copyright.
