There is a deeper issue here. Most execs see the U.S. as only a
place for sales and marketing. Everything else including patent
work should be done overseas. That is capitalism at its best. Of
course, as more people get downsized or take pay cuts, it becomes
harder to pay for goods even if they are cheaper. India and China
will need to pick up their per capita spending to make up for the
ground the U.S. is losing. Also, perhaps more government jobs
should be outsourced to save money and reduce taxes for everyone.
Patent examiners, tax examiners, government analysists and
economists, and general paper pushers should defintely be
outsourced to India, China and the Philippines to reduce costs.
The U.S. government is ill equiped with smart people these days to
lead the U.S. out of this so might as well do some good by
    reducing government overhead.

More to the topic at hand, one quote for patent drafting services
came in for $35 per hour. Compare that with $200 per hour in the
U.S. and one sees what is going on here. Maybe 5 to 10 years from
now little to no preparation and prosecution in the U.S.?
