Post: Landlord took money for utilities and did not pay them.

We made a bonifide effort to get utilities in our name,
and we were not able to so i informed the landlord, after
a 50$ fine we were offered for them to pay the utilities
in thier name and we weould be charged a min. of 10$ per
day. We agreed because we had no other choice and we paid
them as much money as we could. One week ago our utilities
were shut off. I contacted the utility company and I was
informed the utilities are in the previous tenants name. I
call my landlord outraged and she assured me they have
been appling ourr payments on the utilites and they were
in the landlords name, she said the utility company doesnt
have thier records in order, etc. She said she would call
them and would try to get our utilities back on. the next
day she avoids me all day and after confronting her in the
parking lot she claims that our utility payments were not
for utilities, that it was a fee, for not having them in
our name. !!! Our receipts say the utility company's name
and my name and state they are for utilities at our
address. I really beleive this is worth fighting. We have
paid rent and utility bills to be in a cold house. Please
if you have any advice it would help!
