Post: moving walk through- deposit

Posted by Janet Oviatt on 8/02/08

I am moving out of my home rental and i contacted my
rental company andn asked questions about the final walk
through. They said that someone comes out whenever they
can and I am welcome to be with the person but that they
will NOT sign any documentation about the condition of the
house. All they will do is take pictures and send them
back to the rental agency and they will decide from there
what if any of my deposit is refunded and what work has to
be done. Is this legal? Also, they say that they are not
required by law to replace my carpet at any time and that
any wear and tear will be attributed to me including heavy
traffic stains. I have 2 small children and a couple of
small kool-aid stains on the carpet are these things not
considered normal wear and tear for a family?
