Post: Abandonment of rental home & personal property

Posted by Shirley Richendifer on 10/08/08
After one mo. of 1 yrs. lease, no rent payment; calls on two cell phones went unanswered. I posted a notice to inspect on the door when there was no answer to door bell visually seeing papers in drive, trash can full, seeing through glass sliding door most furniture gone and refrigerator gone but a mess left behind. Two days later, I inspected the property inside and found closets empty, beds left w/ no bedclothes; kitchen cabinets empty but stuff left on top of cabinets and floor and keys to the house and mail box plus gar. door remote openers on counter. I notified tenants by leaving msg. on both cell phones that I wanted then to pick up the rest of their stuff by end of the week or I would trash it all. Do I need to do something more? Shirlr
