I live in Atlanta and am having difficulty finding a
conclusive answer about mold and tenant rights. There was
a leak from the upstairs apartment through the door frame
and ceiling and it stained everything in the bathroom with
big brown stains - he said he would send someone to check
it out but only had the problem fixed upstairs. I'm
pretty sure there is mold up there, but there is
definitely mold in the living room. There is a fireplace
(not usable) with a built in mirrow above it. There is
mold growing behind the glass and it is spotting big spots
that are not actually on the surface, but clearly there
must be a major mold problem within the chimney. I am
currently running a mold test kit to determine the type of
mold, but what are the laws concerning this for GA? If
it'stoxic mold can I move out? is he required to fix it
regardless of the type? If it is so bad that it would
require major renovation, am I allowed to vacate and
receive my deposit? Do I have to pay moving costs?
