    Post: Paying Utility Bill?

    Posted by Ralf on 12/08/08

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Alabama

    Hello,

we have a 12 month contract, which was started on 8 of
February 2008 and end on 28 of February 2009. We want to
move earlier out of the appartment, around 8 weeks before
the lease contract is ending. This is not a big thing. We
can pay the rent for the two month till the contract is
ending but we also have to pay still the utility bill.?????

Is this right or against the law. Can they do this even when
we are not living in this appartment any more and do not use
any water or garbage? We are not talking about $20. In this
wonderful Alabama county Jefferson the water is so high. We
do not waste water, we are trying to safe it, but still got
$75 utility every month. So they would like to charge $150
for two month we do not use anything. Can they do this? Te
next thing is. What if we are moving earlier: Can they
re-rent the appartment and get double of the rent?

    Thank you
