Post: Breaking The Lease

Posted by Clark on 7/27/07
We have been on a waiting list for low income, government subsidised housing for a long time. I'm 40 & Disabled. My mom is 65; a senior. We've just received notice that an apartment will be ready for us in a senior/disabled complex in about 30 - 60 days. The lease for our current apartment doesn't end until December. Is it true that we can legally break our current lease without losing our deposit? Where can I get this information in writing? Our current complex has a lot of vacancies and our fear is that they are going to give us a hard time about breaking the lease.
