    You're right - distance law schools do not need to be accredited. And DETC is not
    the same as ABA. But its the only accreditation available to distance law school
    and better than no accreditation at all. The accreditation will so give you tax
    benefits not available to students at unaccredited schools.

    DETC accreditation is available to every distance law school that can meet the
    standards. I've wondered for years why only Taft and Con cord have gone this
    route. Lincoln applied to DETC a few years back but was either denied or dropped
    out.
