Re: Non-Bar Programs Dead?
Posted by Brent on 4/27/08

Tom--I did the same thing you did a few years back. Had my BS and
MBA, both from great schools. I attended BAU to get my JD because
I was interested in learning the law. I never had an interest to
become a practicing attorney. I was making way too much money to
start over again and I had no interest starting my own business
(law firm). BAU was registered at the time and I had the choice to
sit for the bar, but decided not to and go for the eJD track. Some
criticize this approach, but it was fine for me. I got a great
legal education and for anyone to challenge that statement, wasn't
part of the BAU program then. I worked my butt off, had many case
studies returned to "re-do", and took the same tough exams others
did from ABA programs. There is a good reason why several BAU
studens passed the baby bar and bar. When you go back and look at
those stats, they were hitting a 50-60% pass rate for a few years
and a lot of that was due to BAU's program and tough bar prep
    course.
Don't listen to jerks like "Robbie" or whatever his name is, it's
likely he isn't a student or grad. Do your own thing. That diploma
may be important for getting your foot in the legal profession
door, but doesn't do much for raw legal knowledge.

Go for it with Breyer and good luck.
