Re: Can I take the California Bar with my Online JD from No
Posted by Mike on 9/10/08
I am starting school this fall. Thank You and good luck. The Online Law Schools Book is a guide and is helpful, it doesnt state you can get your 26 credits from an LLM online automatically. There are ABA Schools that now offer online Masters of Laws programs, some offer JD electives. The other poster is correct, you have to get 26 bar subjects for the DC Requirement. However, you can do a 1 year LLM in person that offers JD electives after obtaining your JD degree from Novus Law and go that route(sit for DC). There are many ABA LLM programs that will accept DL students. I do not think that would be wrong in anyway. Also, there is alot of new programs in that book that does show different bar subjects from ABA Schools. But I 100% agree that taking a full blown online LLM from an ABA School will not qualify for DC until some type of LLM for foreign students comes out, you have to contact DC and see what they require. The book was a great guide book for me and is helping me choose what ABA program I am going to take that is online(instead of wasting hours searching google, and basically just goes over all the distance JD programs, and some from overseas. Plus, all the ABA online schools. Good luck to you but if you are going to be choosing a DL program, or switching schools, or wanting to take an ABA Online Law School program, I would say get it.
