No Mike that won't work. You must take 26 ABA credits of basic 1L bar
    subjects not advanced level subjects.

An LLM degree is an advanced degree that by definition does not offer
1L level classes. Supposedly to get in to an LLM program (certainly an
ABA LLM) you must have completed all basic 1L subjects.

For example, an LLM course in "Cross-border insolvency" would not be
accepted as an ABA class in bankruptcy even though it is all about
international bankruptcy procedures. Only a basic level bankruptcy
class would satisfy the DC requirement of a bar tested subject. Same
for a course in estate tax law. Only a basic 1L tax law class will
work and LLM programs do not offer such basic classes. And remember,
you are dealing with bar examiners who will not recognize some tricky
loop hole exception to their requirements. They have virtually
unlimited discretion. Either go to a CA non-ABA school and take the CA
bar or go to an ABA school and take the bar wherever you want.
