I’m working on an article that looks at just how difficult
it is to gain citizenship in another country to balance a
lot of the talk that some countries are freely giving away
passports. I’m working on a section about how difficult it
is to get British Citizenship and wondered if anyone knows
of any interesting cases where people have gained
citizenship through unexpected ways?

I’ve looked at obvious things like citizenship through
birth, marriage, naturalisation and even death of a British
spouse, but are they are extended ways people can think of
getting British citizenship? I'm hoping I'll be proven
correct because it really isn't that easy!
