Post: Becoming an attorney.

I am contemplating entering law school next year and I
would like to obtain feedback from people who are currently
in the profession. I have spent 13 years as a police
officer and the application of criminal law from an
enforcement standpoint came easy to me (interpreting
statutory law). I believe I would do well as an attorney
and I would like to specialize in tax law (For some reason,
I find taxes interesting). I do not plan to attend a top
tier law school. I do not believe the return on investment
warrants over 100k in debt. I do not plan to work for a
large law firm, rather I would prefer to open a small firm
that I would operate on the weekends and build my
practice. I am currently an executive manager and while I
make very good money, I consistently find myself feeling
bored, unrewarded, and extremely tired of dealing with
employees who lack common sense, drive, or the ability to
breathe without direction.
Is the legal profession rewarding? Will I be able to
make a decent living eventually (currently I make a 6
figure salary). Is the field oversaturated?
I currently hold a degree in finance and I am at the
decision point where I take the plunge into law school,
finish my masters and become a CPA, or become a Doctor of
Chiropractic. Any thoughts from practicing attorneys?
