I completely relate to your issue. I was a Supervisor for a very very large Cell phone company. I was fired for so many ridiculous things. I cannot even list them. However, in your situation, the basis for the termination seems like they were leaning towards the fact that you are the Supervisor of the department and , from what you said it sounds like the typo started with you. They are basically playing the "your department mistakes fall in your lap" card. Is it lousy, but the only angle that I can see you going from here is #1- did you ever have any other work performance issues before this one? #2 are there other Supervisors there that you know of making the same mistake.? 9 times out of 10, as I have realized in corporate America the reason they tell you during your termination is never the real reason. If you still have friends on the inside of the company that can do some investigating for you to get to the real issue, I suggets you use them. Also, do you live in a right-to-work state? If so, they retain the right to fire you at any time for any reason. In that case, there would need to be some gross misconduct on the part of the employer when your termination is concerned. If there was gross mosconduct, you could take legal action citing punitive damages. Gross misconduct includes discrimination, harrassment, unfair work practices. That is what happened in my case. I was retaliated against for an entire year by upper management- and in the end I got fired for something that they do themselves. I am currently litigating with them and my lawyer and I do not expect for my settlement to be under the 2 million dollar marker. However, I have a lot of documented proof actually signed by upper managemnt regarding thier retailiation (you would thinkg they would be smart enough not to put it on paper and sign it)... so that is s what is really helping me. I would really suggest you utilize ALL your resources... Good luck
