Post: injury, refusal to pay, loss of employment

Posted by Mary, tigger_mom_3@msn.com, on 8/22/02

I injured my knee at work in April, an incident report was
filed. I went to the doctor a month later. "In Wisconsin,
the employee has the first choice of physician" (quoted
from the case manager for my employers Workers'
Compensationg Division) I was denied benefits because they
claimed the injury was pre-existing. I continued to go to
the doctor, and in fact am still under doctors' care to
this day, About a month before my employment ended, I was
suspended with pay for one day, and needed to decide if I
was still going to work there, I missed three days (which
brought on the suspension) which were excused by my doctor
because it involved a proceedure to treat my injured knee.
(that's harassment, correct?!) Anyhow, I was also given a
list of restrictions which I turned into my personnel
director at work, I was not allowed to follow those
restrictions at work, they would not give me a stool (yet
other people were able to have them), I wasn't supposed to
stand for more than an hour, I missed more work because it
aggravated my injury. I am no longer at this job because
they would not accomadate my restrictions. I feel that I
was forced out of my job... Now, my other Question, besides
what can I do legally, is, why does every attorney I've
spoke with keep asking, "what is it that you want us to do
for you" I want my bills paid, and I want to be compensated
for pain and suffering and for work that I could be at if
    they had accomadated.
