Post: Lost two in same family to Sepsis- two hospitals

Posted by Jeanie on 8/01/08

I lost my 39 yr, old brother in 2000, to Sepsis at
Prestigious hospital in St. Louis. We were all devistated,
not educated, and took it lying down. He was engaged, so
my parents, my 3 sisters and I didn't know if we had
recourse. Two months ago, my 72 yr. dad, snapped his
fibula and tibia in the right leg. Rushed to E.R. and put
in a room until surgery for Titanium rod the next day. We
never met the Orthopedic surgeon, before surgery. Plus, he
was not supposed to operate on dad, his partner was! After
surgery, Surgeon (Sturgeon) left town for 10 days. There
were NO orders to change dressing, noone looked at his
leg, someone put TWO Phentanyl(sp) patches on him!!! When
I demanded he be started on Anti-biotics ASAP, and an
I.V., I was met with sarcasm, and ignored. This went on
for four days, as I took digital pictures of his GOOD leg
which was swollen and had a red line going up it. We were
horrified, we knew what we were dealing with and we were
treated indignantly. Dad died the fifth day, suffocating
in front of our eyes. I begged and pleaded for them to
help, and so did my sisters and mom. We have the medical
charts and they are full of false information. We have
contacted a lawyer and I gave him the obituary page which
had three other people who died in the same hospital
within three days of each other. Do we have a good chance?
