Post: Toxic Mold?? Help!

I'm looking for the best advice I can get. I have lived in
my townhouse complex with 9 other units for the past year
and a half. Since I have moved here, my daughter who is
four, and myself have both gotten severe allergies. It
seems as though we are both always congested. My daughter
also was diagnosed with Asthma and has had to begin using a
nebulizer machine to help her breathing. Since I moved in
I have complained of my entire basement floor to be water
damaged as well as a "white mold" all over the walls
including everything I had in the basement. The management
company tried several solutions beginning in the fall.
First they extended the gutters about ten feet away from
the unit, then they put a sealant around the basement
ceiling trim, and last they had put a sealant over all of
the walls. The sealant worked, for about 2 weeks. I
called and maintenance returned to seal the ceiling again.
This worked until about the spring. As of now I am right
back where I started. This time, where all walls meet the
floor are constantly damp, even if there is no rain. I
have a puddle about a 1/4" deep from one end on the cellar
to the other from the one corner that is still leaking. I
had noticed last week that I now have circles of black mold
all over my floor ranging from the size of a golf ball to a
basketball.
My neighbor that lives roughly 4 units down has had the
same problems with management and mold in her childrens
window. The same "Black Mold". Her 4 year old has been in
the hospital 5 times since the beginning of winter due to
Asthma and has had to be placed in a crupe tent. Her two
year old..same thing 3 times since winter. Then about two
months ago her daughter had begun having seizures. As of
now she's had for in the past 2 months - 1 hospitalizing
her for a week. Her daughter's test results came back with
high levels of toxic mold.
I begin telling my mother about the two year old being sick
and she had brought up "Sick house Syndrome". Both my
neighbor and I over the past week have been trying to get
as much information on this as we can. Which I believe we
have. We have both contacted our management company and
the board of health is coming to due an inspection. Is
there any way to prove that this is what is making everyone
sick? Is it difficult to prove? Will we have to move?
We're really not sure what steps to take after the
inspection...but it's quite clear, there is a TON of mold,
and we are all sick. What are our legal rights and what
should we due from here. Please help.
