Post: dwai...should I go to trial?

I was arrested for DWI about 8 months ago...my license hasn't been taken yet, and my lawyer is very good. The reason I was arrested is because I was taking my prescription medication and admitted that to the police officer. I was released ROR, since this is my very first offense. My lawyer tells me that the ADA is insisting on DWAI, including fines and an alcohol class, even though I don't drink. The baffling thing to me is this: I wasn't given a phone call until arraignment, when I had to ask the judge for a call, there was no matron all night while I was in jail and no toilet paper given to me. The DA's forensic analyst checked my blood levels the day of arrest and said it was within the proper limits of my prescription. Why are they still insisting on an alcohol class and taking my license away? Is there anything I can do besides trial? The money for that is overwhelming at the moment.
