Post: provisional license + speeding

Posted by Cindy on 2/19/06
Hi, My son has a provisional drivers license and was pulled over for speeding (25miles over speed limit) last night. He also had 3 other teens in the car and apparently he can only have one additional person in the car. He was very flustered and couldn't find his registration when the officer asked for it, although it WAS in the glove box. When I arrived to take some of the kids home, I found the registration and told him to take it to the officer. When he did, the officer told him that it didn't matter because the ticket had already been written. He recieved three tickets. One for speeding, one for having too many passengers, and one for failing to produce a registration card. He says that he was speeding, but not 25 miles over the speed limit, it was more like 10. Would it be worth it for us to contest the registration ticket and the speeding ticket? He was not asked to appear in court, but the date listed on the ticket is this thursday. Thanks!
