Post: Deferred Prosecution Agreement (domestic violence)
Posted by H on 11/17/07
I called the police after my fiance hit me and then held a knife to his wrist the other night. He was arrested and issued a no-contact order for 72 hours. The 72 hours are up come tonight (Saturday), and he doesn't go to court again until Monday at which time we're doing a Deferred Prosecution Agreement so that hopefully he'll agree and get the mental health help he needs & avoid being prosecuted for domestic violence. Is it stupid on my part to contact him on Sunday (while there isn't a no-contact order) to help him realize how much it would help him if he agrees? If I did contact him, would that be something that he could bring up in court on Monday and have a negative effect on the outcome IF he refuses help and I actually have to go to court to testify against him? Help? quick.
