Re: Survival Skills for New Paralegals

Thanks for your reply. Offering a workshop strictly focusing on legal software is an excellent idea. One that I had not thought of until I read your post. I will definitely give that serious consideration. If you want to get some exposure to the different kinds of case management, litigation support, and timekeeping software out there, you may want to visit the various company sites. Many of them offer free trial software good for 30 days you can download on your home PC to familiarize yourself with the programs. Also, quite a few of them offer online tutorials with real-time simulations of how to use their products. In the Law Office Technology course I taught, I used a textbook written by Brent D. Roper entitled "Using Computers in the Law Office." I can't recall the name of the publisher right now, but try doing a search on Google. The book includes multiple disks of trial software --- Summation, PC Law, Amicus Attorney, Case Map, and Time Map. It also includes tutorials on how to use the software. Hope this helps. If you have any other questions, you can email me at info@marigoldconsulting.com. Good luck!
