    Post: The New Johnny Cochran

Posted by Hardy Parkerson, Atty. - Lake Charles, LA on 11/06/06

    Dear Counsel.Net Friends,

I am no Johnny Cochran, although I aspire to be as
great a lawyer as he was. We all must have goals, so my
goal is to become "The New Johnny Cochran". Frankly, I am
sure I could never fill his shoes, but what's wrong with
wanting to be big enough as a lawyer to do so! So it's
really with tongue-in-cheek that I call myself "The New
Johnny Cochran". There is no doubt about it, he was one
of the greatest lawyers of all times, just like the great
Gerry Spence, and the late, great Melvin Belli, and the
late grest Jack Rogers of Louisiana, and the great retired
lawyer from Lake Charles Robert M. "Bob" McHale, and the
great Nathan Cormie of Louisiana, still practicing full
speed ahead after almost fifty years, if not more; and,
let us not overlook the late, great A. Lane Plauche of
Louisiana and Tulane Law fame. We have as great lawyers
in Louisiana as in any other place in American and the
world. So when I refer to myself as "The New Johnny
Cochran", don't get mad at me; I could just as well say
the same about myself and any of the other great lawyers
of whom I have named above. Who knows! I might one day
make it as a great lawyer myself! Who knows! Only time
    will tell!

    Sincerely,

    Hardy Parkerson, Atty.

Barcello, III, also of the Tulane Law Class of 1966)
