    Post: Hernia Workmans comp

Posted by Steve D on 9/29/10

I have been out of work in Illinois for 3 months now for a
double Hernia operation. Workmans comp has paid all the
medical bills and paid me 66 percent weekly. The reason I
have been out so long is that I have a very physical job
and the surgeon was affraid I could cause damage if I
returned to soon. Anyway, I understand all cases are
different but, I've spoke to a Lawyer recommended to me by
a fellow coworker about a settlement. She told me right
off the bat the a hernia injury is not worth that much.
When I asked how much she said, "we can probably get this
in and out within a month for about $5500.00". I
understand WC in Illinois doesnt pay for pain and suffering
but this seems really low for missing 12 weeks of work to
me. Im not askking for an exact amount but what does
anybody think an average settlement would be for a 35 years
old male in good health making $50,000 a year?
