Post: employer opening paycheck

Posted by Carrie Colon on 12/08/06
I receive my paycheck every other Friday in a sealed envelope from my corporate office, (it's sent to all our branches) and my general manager opened my paycheck and said i wasn't claiming enough tips and took my paycheck and said he was going to return it to corporate. The point is is that when i walked into work, it was opened and he also threatened to fire me if he had to speak to me again about this same matter. He also wrote me up. Isn't it against the law for him to open my check and tell me how much i should claim in tips??
