If you have done something that constitutes a felony, as an officer of the court, your attorney has the moral, ethical, and legal duty to first warn you and then report it, especially if it is perjury that you have committed. google American bar Association model rules of ethics and professional responsibility. When you sue someone, or are being sued, privacy rights tend to go out the window as far as discovery is concerned. the other side can ask and get answers to all kinds of personal questions and information. And it really tends to be to one's advantage when the attorneys are "chummy" if they have a good working relationship, you tend to spend a lot less money because things tend to get worked out quicker, thus saving you on attorney fees as well. That's not to say that there aren't some bad eggs out there who will just build a file and charge out the wazoo but as a rule the better they get along the less likely you are to have to pay for their p****ng matches.
