Post: BIG problem with our neighbor

Posted by The Angry German on 6/28/07

My family has owned a cottage in a resort town for over 40
years. It has always been a place to entertain friends and
family. About 9 years ago, the neighbors next door sold to
a middle-aged couple. Since then our weekends there have
    been a living hell.

Everytime, and I do mean EVERY time, we're up there, the
cops are called for one reason or another. It doesn't
matter if we have 2 or 10 people up there. Now he's
threatening to sue claiming that he can't enjoy his
property. He's recording everything we do with his
    camcorder.

We are in no way a disturbance to anyone and our other two
neighbors (next door and scross the street) hav attested to
this. Two summers ago, he demanded that a ticket be issued
to my mother (the owner) for a noise violation. The judge
threw it out and scolded the officer, stating that it is a
resort town and you have to expect things like this. We
don't know what to do anymore. Even when just my parents go
up, he calls the police. We can't go up there and enjoy our
property because we're always fearful that he might call
the police. We're not breaking any laws as evident by the
50-plus times the police have been called out by him and
they've NEVER issued a citation, aside from the one
mentioned above. What can we do? Can we retaliate with a
suit of our own? I believe that the only way this will end
is a) if he moves (we're not going anywhere) or b) we hit
him in his pocketbook. Any advice would be GREATLY
    appreciated! Thanks in advance!
