Post: mail tampering at a prison

Posted by Rhonnye Russell on 1/18/08

This involves a letter that was sent to a fifteen year
employee of a prison unit in Gatesville. He owns and lives
in a mobile home that he has located on the prison
grounds. The letter was addressed to him personally at his
personal address on the grounds and NOT to the prison
    unit.

This letter was intercepted by prison officials and
opened. He was fired from his job and is now losing all
benefits he had acquired through his years of service.

I won't go into the injustice here (and there is a lot of
it)as the story gets very detailed, involving more than
    just this one individual.

He is reluctant to take action because of fearing harm
coming to others involved so right now I am just trying to
figure out if he has a legal leg to stand on.
Would this be considered mail tampering?
