Post: workplace mail

Yesterday a private document given to me by a colleague concerning a student's private special education information was tampered w/ by someone at my school. The item was place in a thin, cubby style mail-slot and the teacher who was originally in receipt of it said she slid it in my mailbox a short time ago. When I looked in my mailbox, it was maliciously shredded w/ what appeared to have been a letter-opener. I contacted the student's parent and explained the situation. But I want to know what my rights are because my school is very Laissez faire about these matters, and I've expressed issues similar to the school's administration, to no avail. K. McAllister
