    Post: Defamation of Character?

    Posted by Jacki on 9/14/05

My question is this: There is a man in town who is quite
upset with my husband and another person here for a few
reasons...On my husbands part it's because he took this
other person to small claims for money owed to him for
work my husband had done...the other person is because he
is an ex-business partner of this individual and was there
to back my husband up with the situation, long story short
the individual ended up having to pay my husband the money
owed. We just found out the other day that this
individual showed up at my husbands place of employment
with two police officers and went to someone, I'm
assuming, they thought was in charge over my husbands
department...anyway, he showed up there saying my husband
and this other individual were stealing money and
embezzeling from funds made at football games etc. The
claims were 100% false, and everyone involved knew this
the minute he walked into the office however this does not
make things ok w/my husband or this other individual.
There is paperwork and documentation showing everything
down to the dime, and the company said not to worry about
it. Our question is, do we have any rights as far as his
false accusations and malicious actions to try and destroy
two peoples lives and careers? Like I said, there is no
truth to anything this person claimed and they have been
told by their company that there is nothing to worry about
and they know the alligations were made to try and
    intentionally hurt them.
