Out of curiosity, does American law also prohibit the opening of
mail by a resident of the same address as the addressee? For
example, let's say someone's child of 19 years of age is sent a
letter (from Canada, by ordinary letterpost) while living at
home, and their parents intercept, open, and then dispose of it.
Is that illegal?
