I get things addressed to me at work all the time. I am in charge of
ordering promotional items for where I work. There are times where I
receive many free samples of items that I have requested for possible
bulk purchase. I don't always open all the mail that is addressed to
me, because it is all company business. AND, (here's the important
part) I don't get to keep the samples unless my boss says I can. Why?
Because they were acquired for the business, not me personally.

I agree with your boss. The company actually paid for the "gift" both
with your expenses and with your salary and they can give it to you
or choose not to.

Did you ask nice?
