Yes: It's a federal offense. A 1000 dollar fine and up to a year in prison. But if there just love letters, well ... the respose to your query of the postal inspector may go unanswerd for lack of much in the way of wasting time persuing it. On the other hand, opening credit card statements, mail with checks in them. That MAY get a faster response. All depends.
