Wow! You sound as angry as those Toyota vehicles owners who were
told that their vehicle did not qualify for repairs under
the "Customer Support Program for Engine Oil Gelation" despite
regular maintenance! It was not fun for them to pay THOUSANDS of
dollars in repairs for a KNOWN problem in a supposedly "quality"
vehicle! At least this is what I have been hearing from a number of
these sludge-affected Toyota owners.
The thing that puzzles me is why you are so offended by this
information. Don't you think it is important for the sludge victims
to know about the CSP? After all, Toyota stopped sending out those
letters and a significant number of owners are reporting that they
never received the letter in the first place. Surely you can
empathize with these Toyota owners, can't you?
FACT: Thousands (a yet undetermined number actually) of Toyota
owners have complained for YEARS about this serious engine malady.
FACT: NOTHING was being done about this for YEARS until a group of
Toyota owners went online and linked their information. This
resulted in thousands and thousands of postings about Toyota sludge.
Edmund's Town Hall (now CarSpace.com) had regulars who in 2000 said
that the Toyota sludge matter was one big HOAX, while in fact, owner
after owner was reporting the same scenario of sludge and the
financial burden that followed...not to mention the inconvenience,
frustration, and disappointment in the quality of the product.
Remember, I thousands and thousands have also written to Toyota to
complain about this problem.
FACT: Toyota owners are still reporting sludge in vehicles not
covered under the CSP. Toyota owners are reporting REPEAT sludge
episodes. Toyota owners who qualify for the CSP are reporting DENIAL
of claims if all the oil change receipts are not given (among a host
of other "excuses" made at Toyota dealerships.
FACT: The Toyota engine oil sludge problem is not over according to
some Toyota owners. These owners think that the problem has not been
properly resolved.
FACT: There are some who are actively interferring with the posting
of Toyota engine oil sludge information.
