Re: Sticking Sliding Doors in the Toyota Sienna
Posted by Charlene Blake on 8/01/07

The sliding doors (both of them) in my 1999 Sienna van began
sticking severely before we had 36,000 miles on the van. We
were told that "sticky drinks" were being spilled in the door
and that this was causing the problem. HOGWASH!

The doors were sticking so badly that they could NOT be opened
from the inside at all! If your engine throws a rod due to
sludge and catches on fire, your sticking door locks might
    ensure that you don't survive!

Truly, this is a SAFETY-RELATED problem. If Toyota is smart,
it will do a total SAFETY RECALL on the problem. If it isn't
smart, then it will have a quiet T.S.B. ("secret warranty?")
repair for those who complain loudly.

My sliding door locks were replaced (without charge ultimately)
and they were OK for awhile. Now, they are beginning to be
    somewhat sticky once again.

PLEASE file reports to the NHTSA, CAS, ConsumerAffairs.com,
etc. Send a CERTIFIED letter to Toyota and ask for coverage of
    this very important repair.

Do NOT take this for granted as engine problems have resulted
in some engine fires. If your door locks are sticking, this
    situation could be fatal!
